There is a short climb to the pass with a long down hill on rough road. We missed a cut off to the route so we take a much longer route down and thousand of feet further down. This then has a much longer route going up. We end up camping next to road.
Night rain put the tent in a pool of muddy water. After a short ride with 3200 ft of climbing we take an old side road from the pass which gives us a great camp on the ridge at 12700 ft. Altitude is not bothering us which is good.
