We get a late start after cooking breakfast. There is a few miles of pavement then the road turns to dirt. It is a steady slow climb to a lake. Nice camp near Laguna Larga. 13000ft
Once again fix the Nemo air mattress. No luck trouble shooting my dynamo. Lani’s lock was repaired. We get a late start riding. The ride is rolling hills at 13 and 14000ft. We camped on ridge at 14000 ft. We see alpaca herds in late afternoon.

After buying the days provisions at the local market we are off. It is a bit of a climb to the ruins of Marcahuamachuco. The French couple is just leaving as we get near the top and the ruins. It was a large walled city on top of the mesa going for a couple of kilometers. The round forts at the on end have some similar characteristics with Scottish brochs having the double wall with room between. Looking off the mesa see another ruins in the valley and a different hilltop with more ruins.
