Choice 2, the one I take

Choice 1 velo route

Noon start and my legs hurt.  Push onward taking roads over forest winding paths.  When find wifi I check ferry schedules.  Yes planning.  I hope not to arrive late.  Yes there are more burial mounds on hills.  I don’t stop for them as they are just grass covered mounds on hills.  So size and shape of the mounds of earth are not drawing me to them.  I see the EuroVelo route go down a dirt path.  I stay on the paved bike path and rejoin the EuroVelo route a few miles on.  It is getting late and I ride on with aching legs.  Before sunset get to an official wild campsite.  Water, shelters, toilet and no people.  Walking also hurts.

Stores are open.  See more burial mounds on hilltops.  Take a straight route north as I have a long distance to get to the next campsite.  The bike routes seem to wander.  Long day of riding ends in a nice forest.  Broke fifty miles and my legs feel their mileage.

April 15 2022 Good Friday

It rained a little over night.  Crap I realize yesterday was Thursday and this is Good Friday.  So shops are closed yesterday and today.  Along with just oats to eat I find a shortage of TP by the end of the long weekend.  During my morning ride I find an open shop and TP issue is not.  Getting to the ferry I find Ebeltoft ferry sailed in the morning.  So I sail to Aarhusas.  I now figure out places I can camp.  In Aarhusas I find a couple of grocery stores open so I have plenty of food for the weekend.  The camp site I selected turns out to be setup as a Viking village.  No one is here but ghosts.  Note the large block of cheese (Balder) gave off a strong smell when opened and a taste did not improve my thoughts on the cheese.  It was quickly removed from camp.

Left the tent door open to see out.  I woke to find rain coming through the screen door.  (Rooky move)  A little more in the morning and was on the road at ten.  The bike route was going more north and south than the west I was trying to go.  I gave up on following the bike signs and headed west on a road.  This greatly shorted the distance taking.  I see burial mounds on the hilltops.  Then I come across a school that is closed and then a grocery store.  I know I should have checked bank holidays for Denmark.  When I get an Internet connection I am reminded that this is Good Friday and Monday is also a holiday.  I hope stores are open tomorrow or I am on an oatmeal diet for the next three days.  This could also explain why there have been so many people in the forest.  I get to camp at 5:30 and fall asleep as soon as I lie down.  It is nine and I am cooking dinner.  These short hills are kicking my butt.  Tonight is Tikka Masala Sauce, rice and cheese.  Tomorrow start out with oats and I hope not to finish with oats.

Crack of noon start.  Finally feel a bit rested.  After 2 miles I found myself  on EuroVelo 6.  EuroVelo are international bike routes through Europe.  They even light the paths here.  Soon I am I am on EuroVelo routes 4, 6, and 9, plus Camino de Santiago pilgrim path.  Get some coast views in.  Soon enough the path diverge and I am on just EuroVelo 4.  Pick up additional food for dinner as I want more than cheese and bread.  Eggs take a dive on the trail and I loose one. Camp site smells of smoke and the campers letting the fire smolder are up wind.  I move on.  At a picnic site I set up camp.  A family biked in with a crate.  They brought firewood for

there grilled cheese.  They wrapped there sandwiches in butcher paper and then newspaper soaked in sea water.  These parcels were set on the fire.  Fortunately the smoke was going vertically.  Good tail wind today hardly notice the first ten miles.  Not going to push the distance yet.  They put the fire out when they finished.

Still in transit and arrived in Briton.  Find my bike next to the plane’s boarding stair at Heathrow.  Decide not to try to take it as a carryon.  See my other bag being loaded and happy my luggage will arrive with me.  In Copenhagen bike is put back together with just a fender bracket broken.  Fender is not out of place so not to bad.  First hard turn found I had not tightened my handlebars to the head tube.  Wheel end 45 degrees of the handle bar.  No problem other needing to stop and tighten the bolds with wheel going forward.  First bike shop a kilometer from the airport had a replacement bracket for the fender.   In Copenhagen wandered about getting supplies (cash, food, stove gas, lighter, wifi, and water.)  I ended up making loops through town as I had not caught up on sleep.  Not far out of town was official wild camping spot in a natural area.  The spot was next to an old gun emplacement from the big war.  Now for a bit of sleep if the geese are quiet.

 Trip begins.  Plane flights are a blur as I need sleep.  Battery light coming on the Navajo Reservation at night did help my getting sleep and a 6:00 AM flight was no assistance either
